About Donna Rawlinson Art
Rawlinson, who completed her Certificate of Visual Arts at Sunraysia Institute of
TAFE in 2023, has quickly established herself in the regional art scene. Her portfolio
spans from vibrant home portraits to children’s book illustrations, with watercolour as
her signature medium.
There is something emotional about a sketch - it grabs the viewers attention in a
way a photograph can't. A building is more than sticks and stones; it's home, work,
memories, and dreams. When a sketch is done, it smooths out the hard edges,
gently softening the image to reveal the true nature of the subject. It allows the
mind to wander, to connect, to feel. Sketches don't just show what's there - they
whisper what it means.
Architectural sketches evoke a sense of soul, of the human touch and imagination
behind the lines. Where photographs might show what is, sketches can convey a
gentler interpretation of what could be. They hold emotion, imperfection, and
intention in a way that feels deeply personal. The way you connected a building, to home, work, memories, dreams: gives it warmth — it's not just structure, it's story.
Through my sketching process, I hope to create an artwork that you will cherish and
hold close to your heart — one that reflects a special meaning and captures an
emotional connection that is deeply personal to you. My goal is not just to draw
what is seen, but to reveal what is felt, remembered, and dreamed.
